(ANOTHER) EPIPHANY ON SUNDAY
00-3-5

So, Jason thinks he can beat me at my own game (inventing ridiculous contests) with his 5 Byte Contest, well, I say phooey to all that bloat. Sure, anyone can make a nice design if they have a whole 5 Bytes to play with, but winning my new 5 bit contest will be a real challenge.

I have scoured heaven and hell to come up with a distinguished panel of dead mathematicians to act as judges, including:

Pythagoras, Georg Cantor, David Hilbert, Kurt Gödel, Paul Erdös, Al-Khwarizmi, G. W. Leibniz (but not Newton, who was just a big phoney) and Srinivasa Ramanujan.
Unfortunately, all 32 possible entries have already been generated and the judges have completed their deliberations. The winner?

01010.

This palendromic gem, submitted by IBM's Deep Blue, beat out such clever combinations as "01101", "11111", "10111" and "01001" to take first prize, because, according to judge Kurt Gödel, "the juxtaposition of digits was isomorphic to the topology of the real numbers." He continued by pointing out that any meta-description of the prize-winning entry could neither contain itself, nor could it contain Gottlog Frege. "Yes, and after a while, they all look the same. We wanted to go home", added Ramanujan.
